Donation Limits & Rules
Under California law, individual contributions to city council candidates are subject to contribution limits.
Contributions are not tax deductible. Contributors must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Corporate contributions are prohibited.
The City of Modesto has a Tin Cup limit for elected officials, which can be found in the City’s Municipal Code. Relatedly, there is also the Levine Act concerning elected officials.
